Tom Mah School of Karate offers first-class instruction for both adults and children as young as five years old, in a friendly and relaxed environment. Chief instructor, Sensei Tom Mah, has over 35 years knowledge and experience in karate, and has been teaching it in Kelowna for the past 31 years. Along with his outstanding team of professionally trained karate instructors, he ensures excellence in everything they do!

Sensei Tom Mah is a 6th dan Shito-Ryu shihan and a 4th dan Chito-Ryu black belt. As a certified teacher, known as a Shihan, Sensei Mah knows the importance of correct technique to proper karate development. His teaching philosophy is not to turn others into the toughest or the best fighters, but to teach the importance of physical fitness, the advantage of having skills to defend oneself, to appreciate their created body, how to move gracefully with power, and to become a polite and courteous individual with humility and good manners.

Class Schedule


Adult Mornings – 18 yrs and over

Beginner to Black Level – Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00am – 10:15am


Adult Evenings -14 yrs and over

Beginner to Green Level – Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:15pm – 7:30pm
Green to Black Level – Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:30pm to 8:45pm


Children – 5 to 13 yrs old

Beginners to Yellow Level – Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:10pm to 6:10pm
Orange and Green Levels – Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:05pm to 5:05pm
